The Q-ImPrESS project consortium wishes to invite you to an upcoming dissemination event at the Eclipse Summit Europe (ESE) 2009 in Ludwigsburg, Germany (October 27 – 29).

Background: Eclipse has become one of the most important software development environments for the industry. But Eclipse is not only a good framework for commercial software development, but also very much for research activities. As Eclipse is open source software, it enables researchers in the field of software engineering to disseminate their results freely as ready-to-try prototypic plug-ins, which can be easily integrated not only into Eclipse itself, but also within Eclipse-based commercial software products (such as Rational Team Concert).

The Q-ImPrESS consortium in cooperation with the Eclipse Foundation wishes to promote Eclipse as a link between research and commercial software projects. Although on very short notice, the Eclipse Foundation has generously enabled us to organize activities for the upcoming ESE2009. We have the possibility to arrange for a poster wall, accompanied by a (unfortunately small due to time constraints) “Birds of a feather” event, which will create awareness for “Eclipse in research” and hopefully result in further continuous and sustainable activities. We would also like to present a variety of grant programs (such as FP7 or ITEA2) and show usable and Eclipse-based results of the respective research projects.

We would like to invite fellow research projects to contribute to this event by submitting
- project posters for individual research projects (max size: 115cm x 115cm)
- project presentations or screencasts (2-5 minutes, please add contact data, to be shown in an endless presentation loop)

Project information will be posted to the ESE website prior to the conference. Deadline for submission of these posters is Friday, October 9th – due to time constrains this deadline is sharp and no extension can be granted. It should be noted that at least one project member must be registered for the conference in order to display your poster. Please submit your project information directly to Allison Kelly from the Eclipse Foundation:
allison.kelly@eclipse.org

We are sorry that there is not very much time left until the deadline. However, we wanted to use this chance to create awareness in the research community as well as the Eclipse community, as we feel that there are great potential benefits for both sides.

We (the Q-ImPrESS consortium) would like to thank the Eclipse Foundation for generously making it possible to organize these events on very short notice.

If you have any further questions, please send a message to: johannes.tysiak@itemis.de
